Sometimes I just take Sumi Ink and see what comes out of me. Painting fast, I have no time to think. These are usually quite small. I may make 20 or more such sketches before something I like appears on the paper!
Other times I use the ink carefully in a more representational way. Here I am watching each stroke and using different values of ink. My goal is to use as few strokes as possible and for each to have it's own individual shape and power.
"Do You Know Me?"...is one of those that is done fast and with no plan. I'm always surprised at what comes out!
